New Color and Base!

First, the new base and color: Nzuri Worsted in Moss and Lichen.

Nzuri Worsted is a single ply yarn of 50% silk and 50% merino wool. I wish you could feel how soft it is! This will be perfect for that special hat, cowl, or scarf that you’ve been wanting to knit or crochet. You get 110 yards per 50 gram skein.

The name “Nzuri” comes from my time in Kenya. Nzuri is Swahili for good, comfortable, soft, comfy, etc. I have six skeins in the Skeinny Dipping Shop just waiting for a new home.

In other news, Mr. SD and I had a great road trip visiting with friends and family along the east coast. Gracie is very happy to be out of the car and back to her normal routine of walks around the neighborhood and patrolling our sidewalk. While we were in DC, we went to visit the new Martin Luther King, Jr Memorial.

The memorial was on the Tidal Basin across from the Jefferson Memorial. As you can tell from the picture, MLK is huge! I had no idea it would be this big.

This view is as you walk in towards the Tidal Basin.

And here is MLK looking out across the Tidal Basin.

After we visited this new memorial, we went over to the FDR Memorial. Mr. SD had never seen this one before. The memorial contains many quotes from FDR, and this was the first one that I saw. Very eerie, yet fitting, quote.

If you ever get a chance to go see these in person, do it! While the MLK Memorial is new, the FDR one isn’t. Funny to think we lived in DC for two years and never went to go see it.

  1. Isn’t it funny how many things you find when they’re no longer in your back yard? I always seem to find “must see” things in a city just after we leave.

The new yarn base looks yummy, and the color is beautiful!
